Space heating demand in Austria
Development of space heating demand in Austria - scenarios for the use of gas
A central goal of the German government is to achieve climate neutrality by 2040. The decarbonization of the building sector plays an important role in this, and the gradual phase-out of fossil fuels in the space heating supply is an important cornerstone for achieving the climate neutrality goal.
Within this study, four different scenarios were created, which analyzed the demand for space heating and hot water by federal state and energy source for the years 2025, 2030, 2035 and 2040. Both residential and service buildings were considered. The scenarios were used to show different development paths of the respective energy sources and their role in the supply of space heating and hot water.
