From research to practice
We can achieve a climate-neutral future by creating new things and daring to try new things. We create new things through research and development (R&D); the next step is to anchor the corresponding innovation in people's minds on the one hand and establish it on the market on the other. Not every new technology may be competitive at the beginning, but if it can make a positive contribution to achieving climate targets, the so-called "ramp-up" and corresponding framework conditions make sense. One example of this is the development of a (green) hydrogen economy.
The Austrian Energy Agency advises and supports the federal ministries on energy-related issues in the field of research and innovation. It considers the development of (future) innovative technologies in scenarios. For national programs, the focus is usually on the design and monitoring of research and innovation programs; for European and international programs, the focus is on co-design.
