Climate and energy targets of the federal states
Study "Climate and energy strategies of the countries"
The study "Climate and energy strategies of the federal states - energy, greenhouse gas emissions and the congruence of state and federal targets", which was carried out by the Austrian Energy Agency on behalf of IG Windkraft, Photovoltaic Austria, Kleinwasserkraft Österreich and the Austrian Renewable Energy Federation (EEÖ), was presented in two parts.
Part 1
Trends in greenhouse gas emissions are pointing in the right direction, but need to be stepped up significantly. Potential for 100% renewable electricity is available in Austria, but there are significant differences from province to province
Part 2
Study analyzes climate and energy targets of the federal states and shows which results will be achieved throughout Austria by 2030. It can be seen that in many cases the sum of the state targets does not yet add up to the targets in the current government program. At the same time, however, the mutual dependencies also become clear: both the federal government and the federal states need each other to achieve their respective goals.
Basis for discussion: This is how much renewable electricity each federal state could expand
The realizable potential for water, wind, sun and biomass exists in the federal states to achieve 100 percent environmentally friendly renewable electricity generation in Austria by 2030. The study presents a potential-based approach based on the principle of the still available options for the future distribution of the expansion of renewable electricity generation, which can serve as a basis for discussion. Accordingly, the additional 27 TWh specified in the Renewable Energy Expansion Act could be divided as follows:
